From the BBC's 2013 Time Shift series; Full Throttle: The Glory Days of British Motorbikes narrated by John Hannah. I do not own the copyright to this film, it is very much the BBC's, but it's too good to not share. Keep an eye out for Sam Lovegrove :-)

There looked to be some brilliant classics on show. Love the RDs from the 70s and 80s. CBX1000, Z1300 and the rare rotary RE5. Nice to see a meet well organised and looking like it has the support of the residents.
Looks like a great chilled event buddy.. 😎
Ayup buddy, really good to hear from you. I don't manage to get to many of these so it's a bit of a treat to get to a nice chilled event where people seem to actually congregate rather than standing around glued to their phones 🙂 Whoever organises it has done a great job 🙂
@@DukeDyson Sadly it seems that the concept of "The Bike Night" had become an ugly monster, now caught on for just about any commercial entity in the hospitality sector, Pubs, cafes, bars, air fields, you name it, just about anyone with a car park and a servery is clamoring for the biker pound, a trendy money maker coz everyone's doing it... Just about every night of the week now there is a "Bike Night" event where strangers gather and stand around with a luke warm £3.00 coffee and a grestle burger wondering what time to go home...Dont get me started.. i feel an FRO coing on..! Love ya buddy.. Stay safe aye. !
As a Northern lad, I notice the only thing South of Hayling Beach is Bayeux . . . this is obviously an infamous stitch-up, as the town's only material wealth amounts to an almost complete travesty, there to distort the very fabric of history! : )
A tapestry of lies you say..... some might get the needle at such a suggestion 😲 🙂
@@DukeDyson Yep, 'from-age to youth' - French cheese going backwards : )
Some awsome bikes there bruv. The suzuki katana was the bike I wanted as a kid, that was a cracking example of an OG one. Thanks for the video bruv.
There was certainly some crackin' stuff there Ray. I liked the Darmah myself, just beautiful. Take it easy brother 🙂
The blue TRX 03:43 looks in better condition than my neglected beast. Thanks for sharing!
It was certainly a tidy example. I love TRXs 😄
Nice to see a Triumph blowing the snot out it's air jets before then starting-up second kick, (forgotten too many manual advance levers myself to not recognise that 'snort of disgust') Auto-advance units are fine & dandy, but sometimes they stick too - & the kickstart will tell your instep ALL about it! : )
A bit too much advance is certainly the cause of many a funny limp; a tough lesson learnt eh 😞
@@DukeDyson - Big two-strokes are my nemesis, once 'straight-legged' a Maico, (after being told not to) it said 'POK!' & the post-launch pain was almost religious! : )

Wow, what a beautiful setting! ❤🤗
It's a lovely spot for sure buddy 🙂

Brings back memories, loved the sound of that cb x. Great video as usual.

bit stark the warehouse, but the geezers are die hard enthusiasts

I suffer from 2 STROKE'O PHOBIA, which, unlike the other 'phobia' , does actually exist
Another great video, love the old and the new models, brings back memories.
Cheers James, they certainly do stir memories eh 🙂
Amazing stuff! Superb!
Cheers for watching David 🙂
Nice review. I have one from 2005. I solved the engine problem under 3000 by disconnecting the gray pipe above the air box (so it is always completely open) and blocking this pipe with a screw. I also installed a KN filter. Problem solved. The operation was easy and is reversible.
There are a couple of well documented mods, this may well be the one to go for. Cheers for watching 🙂
Thanks for this review ! I just can't decide between this TDM and the Suzuki Vstrom 650... I know there're not in the same range but i don't know, that's my 2 favorite good for all bikes on the market right now.. Did you have the chance to try a Strom and if so what do you think about it ?
I've not tried the VStrom 650 but I did own the DL1000 variant which is a superb bike. Very capable and a lot quicker than it should be. It's a tough choice for sure
@@DukeDyson thanks a lot ! Maybe i’m gonna be reasonable and start with the Dl650 and then, in a couple of years, the tdm ! I guess you cant go wrong with any of them ! V !
RoSPA in the 1970s was concerned that bikers had to be looking over their shoulders yet they didn't care much for that moped lady rider's lack of leathers.
I think there's long been some inconsistency in safety messages but ultimately I'm a strong believer in allowing people to make informed choices. Educate people about the benefits then turn them loose :-) Cheers for watching
@DukeDyson I remember seeing this public information film as a child and I'm sure it ran well into the 1980s. The distinctive classic music, the clearcut narration. Thanks for posting this clip, it's been thoroughly entertaining seeing this once more.
Wow, thank you for the kind words, sooo many lovely bikes there🙏😎 - I have to own up to being the builder/owner of the Harris Bevel. ~20+ year gestation period with many people to thank🤦♂️😁
It's a beautiful machine, you must be very proud of your work

I'm informed that Moto Union 24 was the inaugural event and the launch for a yearly show, so we can look forward to a bigger and better Moto Union 25. Great video by the way.
Cheers Mark, it had all the feel of a new event certainly. I'll be back next year, see you there perhaps 🙂
@@DukeDyson Hi Duke. Truth is, I'm one of the organisers, so I'll definitely be there next year. We are moving the date and once that's confirmed I'll let you know. Wish i had kept my gs1000,katana still a stand out design for me,spotted a morini 3 1/2 there lovely bikes
A friend of mine had a 3 1/2 back in the early 80s, lovely thing. He traded it for an 850 Le Mans so he obviously wasn't concerned about Italy's perceived reliability 🙂
I know what you feel, for me it's the Jota, everytime. Some interesting 'framing' amongst that little lot. Amazing how much radical metal 'spag.' it takes to re-mount the big Ducati lumps, tends to make me think 'why bother?', their stock frames exhibit lots of KISS & seem to work quite well. Love the 'Sucati', had a T500 once & that thing's frame was the best road-going laxative ever! : )
Gotta love a Jota for sure, just fabulous machines 🙂 There's no doubting the beauty of that Harris frame but you're right about a stock Ducati's simple elegance; there was a lovely example of a 750GT which in truth is the Ducati I'd have taken away if I could. Alternative frames certainly once had their place in the world as the Japanese found faster ways of entering a hedge but that was seldom an issue for the more flamboyant Italians so as you suggest, why bother? But I do love a "special" 🙂
Still have a soft spot for a GS1000S, I had a red one back in the day, great to see the one at the end still in use, looking good after all these years. Thanks for the video Sir 👍
@@vtwin6683 Great machines, really iconic. I've had numerous GSs of various capacities over the years and they've all been great for sure 🙂 Thanks for watching

The DGR business leaves me cold.(hipsters) This is much more pleasing. Probably a lot of similar machines but more unassuming! I thank that was borderline ranty! Sorry Hipsters! Peace and love Dave 👍✌️❤️
Me too buddy, except when I get hot under the collar about it. It's a shame because I enjoy some of the machines they seem to favour but the "scene" and its antithesis of inclusivity has me spitting feathers 😡🤬
Hi Dave , I'm way behind but still watching. Peace and love brother as always ✌️❤️

I was there, that's my Crosstourer @3:07 😊. I agree, these events are a lot of work to organise and difficult to get off the ground. Let's hope it happens again and continues to grow.
Quite so Trevor 🙂
Bulletproof machine. Heard once about a guy who made more than 200k km without any issues.
And every bike has its own beauty, in my opinion....👌✨
I agree completely 🙂
Which of the firms do you know of who run the clutch modification still please? Werks has retired and the other guy on here sharealike doesn't seem to get back to you.
I wasn't aware that Werks is no more, I'll do some investigation for an alternative
Pretty much spot on assessment Duke. I owned an '02 TDM900 for nineteen years and 165,000km from new and am now on my second, an '08 model (identical in all relevant respects) because a friend was selling and I couldn't not buy it, as it only had 26k on the clock. I bought the first one sight unseen from a dealer 400km away having only test ridden a second hand TDM850 and I have to say my immediate impression was that I'd bought a 'chook chaser' for the first hour or two riding home but now love the riding position. Two things though. I had a friend remove the rear baffle from the pipes which not only makes it sound mellifluous but instantly cured the low speed fueling problem and hence smoothed out the slightly notchy gear change. Win-win. And secondly the rear spring pre-load adjustment is horrendous! I change it whenever I take a pillion or load up the bike with Yamaha's panniers and seat luggage and I have to say it is always a pain to adjust. I have wrapped the adjustment C-spanner handle with self bonding tape which helps but I also have a pair of protective gloves under the seat as well to save the skin on my knuckles... Oh and I also fitted a Yamaha aftermarket centre stand which is in my view essential. Once had a rear tyre puncture on a Sunday and the only car tyre shop open anywhere nearby agreed to put a mushroom plug in it only because we could get the rear off the deck. He wasn't set up to do bike tyres. I since carry my own external plugs and electric mini pump. Oh and lastly, a pair of LED globes has dramatically improved forward night vision.
Funny you should mention the centre stand; I'm just looking at one now 🙂 There are a couple of compromises for sure but generally a fab bike. I don't need to tell you eh 🙂 Thanks for watching
0:36 - Ah, the perfect English road bike. More than enough grunt for the King's Highway (!?) plus the added bonus of pretty good handling. I always ran the old iron-heads though, a fair bit cheaper to buy 12th hand & a lot less 'clattery' up top. Last one cost me £110, only kept it 2yrs & sold to a pal for the exact same amount, - twit! Ho-hum, 'life's rich tapestry' & all that inexcusable jazz, eh? : )
I agree it’s not the size of the event but those that participate, beautiful weather, great video… Kempton Park this Saturday (11th) ?
Alas, Kempton Park is a no go for me this time around 😞

I wish someone would invent 'Smellyvision' - or at least a 'Castrol R' aromatic plug-in. (though I suspect the average memsahib may object to having 'Lily of the Paddock' drifting through her lounge.) Think of all the evocative aromas that do pervade a race meeting, the ones that could perhaps be encapsulated within a little rub of 'Biker Balm' in the end of each nostril, as you settle in your favourite chair . . . So many smells, choose your fave. 'Dodgy Burger Van & HP sauce', 'Remnants of Barry's clutch', or that perennial favourite 'Scraped leathers with ingrained chlorophyll staining & 'stuffed crust' seams rammed full of 'sheep-poo-surprise'! Really fancy a hot-dog now . . . fried onions . . . dab of English mustard . . . 'Slob mode - begin'! : )
Feeling hungry now 🙂
Arrrrgh, 'Rustlers' got me . . . : )
Hilarious - you just gotta be there for the full experience!
great to hear this wonderful sound again, Mike rode it at Oulton Park, you could hear it all the way around the circuit.
It's a truly glorious sound for sure 🙂
Such a beautiful machine.

'Buy quality, buy once.' writ large in nickel plate & still showing the World a clean pair of heels : )
Indeed 🙂 I was recently chatting to a man who owned an SS100 that his late father had bought brand new. That's what I call durability 🙂
"You've bought him a what?!" "A Brough Superior." "But darling - he's 3 months old!" "He'll grow into it . . ." : )
Very cool. A real one.
Lovely it is too eh Marty 🙂
A very lucky man. For me it's just a dream.
I'm sure the owner would think it's the result of hard work and achievement, but I know what you mean 🙂
My grandad painted Andy Mac's helmets and fairings! RIP to them both.
Maybe I’ll bump into you at the next one. I’m always keeping my eye out for yourself and Me Bentley

Autojumbles - where you'll see all the parts you couldn't get nor afford when you owned one, only saving grace is when those few parts now cost more than you originally paid for the whole bike! One guy's 'donkey's old doorstop', may indeed be another guy's 'forty thou over' unobtainium : ) Edit - Enviable Vinbeezer!
Oh yes 🙂
